Country music happens due to some of the most unique circumstances. When speaking with artists, they will describe organized sessions to write and record but when it comes down to the best songs they just work themselves out with no effort to write them.
Same could be said with connections, to a source, of great songs in Nashville. The last two number one singles for Jason Aldean can be accredited to an UBER driver.
A singer/songwriter named John Morgan needed to go places in Nashville when he got into a special transportation. That led to a songwriting path, plus an opening spot on Jason Aldean's Tour.
The driver told Morgan he had some Jason Aldean cuts a few years back and gave Morgan a card for contact, but never thought anything of it.
About nine months later, John was working at Opry Mills, in a clothing store, when that Uber driver months earlier came in for some clothes. They connected and Morgan sent the driver demos he’d been working on as things were not happening for him at the time. The UBER driver sent a couple of those demos to Aldean’s bandmates [Kurt Allison and Tully Kennedy], which in turn got him a write with the Aldean band members.
That was huge as Jason Aldean mentioned to me during a visit before his show that the guys in his band turn him onto the music that is being created.
So that UBER ride helped start the creation of Jason Aldean's number one singles, “Trouble
with a Heartbreak,” “If I Didn’t Love You,""That’s What Tequila Does" and more.
John may look familiar as he was on NBC’s American Song Contest in 2022, representing his home state of North Carolina. He advanced to the semi-finals with his original song “Right in the Middle.”
