Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldiwill be the sideline reporters and Mike Pereira will be the rules analyst. Whitney Houston’s performance of the song ahead of Super Bowl XXV back in 1991 stands above the rest. It came at a time when the United States found itself at war for the first time since Vietnam decades earlier and captivated the nation. Mariah Carey’s performance ahead of Super Bowl XXXVI between the then-St. Louis Rams and New England Patriots months after the September 11, 2001, attacks shook the world.
Super Bowl LV offered a fascinating mashup of genres from its dual performers who sang “The Star-Spangled Banner.” R&B artist Jazmine Sullivan teamed up with country music star Eric Church for a dynamic duet featuring some truly unique musical interplay.
Halftime Performer:Rihanna It will mark Rihanna's first live performance in over five years, and the end of her self-imposed boycott of the event, which she had instigated in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick.
The best halftime show ever (can be highly debated)– Prince– occurred at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens. The ‘Wardrobe Malfunction’ game was XXXVIII in Houston (2004).

The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs dominated the NFL this season.
The two franchises have never met in the Super Bowl, but they’ve faced off nine times in the regular season. Kansas City has beaten Philadelphia in their last three meetings (2013, 2017, 2021), but Super Bowl Sunday is a completely different type of game.
What other connections do these two teams have?
Here are 10 ties that link the Eagles and Chiefs:
Both teams were the No. 1 seed after going 14-3
The regular season was eerily similar for the Eagles and Chiefs. They were the only two teams to finish 14-3, each going 9-3 within their conference. The Eagles had a +133 point differential, the Chiefs were at +127. Both teams won seven games at home and seven games on the road.
Both teams played (and won) at State Farm Stadium this season
When the teams get off their planes in Arizona, they’ll be entering familiar territory. The Chiefs visited the Cardinals in Week 1 and left with a 44-21 victory, while the Eagles defeated the Cardinals 20-17 in Week 5.
Miraculously, whoever wins the Super Bowl will finish the 2022 season with more wins at State Farm Stadium than the hometown Cardinals (who went 1-8).
Both teams have a Kelce brother
For the first time in NFL history, two brothers will face off in the Super Bowl. Eagles center Jason Kelce and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce aren’t just random players, either. They’re arguably the NFL’s best players at their respective positions. Each was named AP First-Team All-Pro this season, Jason’s fifth time on the team and Travis’ fourth.
The brothers each have one Super Bowl ring, so this matchup could determine bragging rights for life. Their mother, Donna, will surely be in the crowd wearing her patented split jersey. Last year, she trekked from Tampa Bay to Kansas City to watch two playoff games in the same day. This year, she won’t have to travel at all to watch both her sons play.
Both head coaches used to be employed by the opposing team
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni both have ties to their opposition.
Reid was the Eagles’ head coach from 1999 to 2012, winning a team record 130 games. He never won a Super Bowl, but he won the NFC title in 2004 and had just three losing seasons in 14 years. Reid, 64, took over the Chiefs in 2013 and has never had a losing season in KC.
Sirianni was an assistant coach with the Chiefs from 2009 to 2012, serving as offensive quality control coach, wide receivers coach and assistant quarterbacks coach. He didn’t work under Reid, as he wasn’t retained when Reid was hired in 2013.
Both starting quarterbacks are from Texas
Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes are both Texas natives. Hurts was born in Houston and attended nearby Channelview High School. Mahomes has even deeper Texas ties – he was born in Tyler, went to Whitehouse High School and attended Texas Tech University.
Both teams have played in a Super Bowl in the last five years
This isn’t the first rodeo for the Eagles and Chiefs. Philly has three prior Super Bowl trips and Kansas City has four, plus both have played in the big game in the last five seasons.
The Eagles are 1-2 in their first three trips, losing in 1980 and 2004 before winning in 2017. The Chiefs have two wins in four tries, winning in 1969 and 2019 and falling in 1966 and 2020.
Both teams led their conference in sacks
Both of these teams know how to rush the passer. The Eagles led the league with 70 sacks in the regular season, ranking third all-time. The Chiefs led the AFC and were second in the league with 55 regular season sacks. Their pass-rushing dominance has continued into the postseason, with the Eagles totaling eight sacks and the Chiefs getting seven in two games.
Both teams allowed the same number of points in their two playoff games
The Eagles have had much less trouble in the postseason, racking up a +55 point differential compared to +10 for the Chiefs. But both defenses have been consistent through two games. Philly allowed seven points against both the Giants and 49ers, while Kansas City allowed 20 points against both the Jaguars and Bengals.
Both teams were involved in star wide receiver trades last offseason
There were a number of star wideouts traded last offseason, and two of the biggest deals involved the Eagles and Chiefs – one team adding, one team subtracting.
The Eagles acquired A.J. Brown from the Titans in exchange for two draft picks, a move that immediately paid dividends. Brown had 88 receptions, 1,496 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in a breakout season.
The Chiefs traded away their star, sending Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins for five draft picks. Even without the speedy weapon, Kansas City’s offense didn’t miss a beat. Mahomes’ squad scored 29.2 points per game this season, one point more than 2021 when they had Hill.
Both cities are known for their iconic food dishes
OK, this one doesn’t exactly involve the two teams. But we had to talk about food when the two cities have meals that are this famous.
Philadelphia is known for the Philly cheesesteak, a sandwich made from thin, cut-up slices of steak and melted cheese on a hoagie roll. Kansas City has their own style of barbecue, which includes a variety of slowly smoked meat topped with a thick, sweet sauce.
Here’s a look at the past five Super Bowls
- LVI: Los Angeles Rams 23, Cincinnati Bengals 20
- LV: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31, Kansas City Chiefs 9

Man who broke into a school during blizzard gets
Super Bowl tickets
A man who saved more than 20 people during the deadly
snowstorm that shrouded Erie County, New York, in December has been thanked for
his actions with tickets to the Super Bowl. When Jay Withey, a mechanic in the
town of Cheektowaga, found himself among the scores of people trapped in their
cars during the storm, he broke into a school building and gathered nearly two
dozen people there to shelter from the harsh conditions that would eventually
leave nearly 40 people dead. For his heroic efforts, he received two
tickets to next month's Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, Arizona, in a
collaboration between the Buffalo Bills and the regional branch of the
insurance company Blue Cross Blue Shield.
1 in 5 people admit to snacking while bathing or on
the toilet!
While eating in bed still ranks as the top spot to snack in secret, a
new study reveals more than one in five people take a treat into the bathroom!
In a survey of 2,000 adults in the United Kingdom examining the strangest
places people like to snack in private, over a fifth say they enjoy
eating while taking a bath. While you might be able to argue that these
snackers are at least clean, other respondents admitted to some less hygienic
habits. Specifically, 18 percent of the poll confess to snacking while on
the toilet!
Here's a fun feature topic to consider as the Super Bowl kickoff gets closer and closer.Players will not be the only ones under stress at this year's Super Bowl. Many watching fans will also be experiencing "fanxiety" which can now be tracked via a new "Super Bowl Fanxiety Tracker" - the world's first real-time sports anxiety tracker which lets anyone track their own levels, both leading up to the game and during the game itself. But which of the Super Bowl teams - the Chiefs or Eagles - has the calmer or more anxious fans? AQ's new anxiety management tool will tell us says Dr. Shaun Nanavati, neuropsychologist and AQ's Chief Science Officer. The Fanxiety Tracker will let football fans and others track their own anxiety levels - both in the run-up to the big game and then during the game. It will show you what percentage of your time since then you have been either "Anxious,""Calm" or "Neutral."https://theaqapp.com/blog/2023/01/30/fanxiety/

Super Bowl Prop Bets
Game Props
Are you a fan of betting on different game scenarios? Game prop betting is exactly what you need. Sportsbooks have countless Super Bowl prop bets for in-game scenarios, usually in the form of an OVER/UNDER or Yes/No prop.
Hundreds of game props are available:
- • Which team will score last in the game?
- • What will be the first scoring play of the game?
- • What will be the first offensive play?
- • Will either team score three unanswered times in the game?
Coin Toss
Before every football game, a coin is flipped to determine which team will receive the ball first. The coin toss prop is one of the most popular Super Bowl prop bets you can make, with millions being won and lost on this bet each year.
For this bet, you have to guess whether the coin will land on heads or tails. There is a 50-50 chance for either result.
Gatorade Shower
Traditions run deep during football’s biggest night. One of the most exciting ones is the Gatorade bath. Players from the winning team dump an entire vat of icy-cold electrolyte water onto their head coach to celebrate their victory. Guess the correct color of the post-game Gatorade shower and you win!
Gatorade color options include:
- • Orange
- • Red
- • Lime/Green/Yellow
- • Clear/Water
- • Blue
- • Purple
Unless Gatorade introduces a new flavor before the Super Bowl, the colors will always be the same as the ones listed above.
National Anthem Props
The Star-Spangled Banner is performed before every sporting event in the United States and the Super Bowl is no exception. Anthem props range from the length of time it takes to belt out the song to whether the singer will forget a word.
Here are some of the Super Bowl prop bets that have been wagered in previous Super Bowls:
- • How long will it take to sing the U.S. national anthem?
- • Will the artist(s) forget or omit a word from the national anthem?
- • Will any scoring drive take less time than it takes to sing the national anthem?
Halftime Show Props
The halftime show gives the audience a chance to take a breather from the intensity of the game and watch some of the greatest performers of our time put on an entertainment clinic. Halftime props deal with the show itself, and allow you to bet on things like the color of the singer’s shirt or if they’ll be wearing a hat.
You will find odds at your favorite sportsbook for the halftime show below:
- • Will a brand new song feature during the halftime show?
- • How many songs will be performed during the halftime show?
Exotic Super Bowl Prop Bets
These wide-ranging props are called Super Bowl exotic prop bets because they relate more to instances and situations off the field than on. For instance, these Super Bowl prop bets can deal with things like the price of Bitcoin at the time of kickoff.
If you can think of some Super Bowl funny bets you want to wager on, you’ll probably find it at an online sportsbook.
Let’s look at some of this year’s exotic props:
- • Will a fan run onto the field during the game?
- • Will any player propose to his girlfriend on the field after the game?
- • Puppy Bowl odds
MVP Odds
The Most Valuable Player award is given out after the game to the individual whose on-field skill dominated during all four quarters. Normally, this top prize is presented to the quarterback of the winning team.
Super Bowl Player Props
Super Bowl prop bets for in-game player accomplishments, usually in the form of an OVER/UNDER, Yes/No prop or head-to-head player matchup.
SUPER BOWL AND THE STOCK MARKET
Every year leading up to the Super Bowl, S&P Global Market Intelligence uses takes a look at Super Bowl history, winners and losers and stock market returns.
Let's go offense
Over the years the median combined final score of each game has been 46 points.
When the teams in the Super Bowl combine to score at least 46 points, the stock
market returns 15.9% on average (based on 29 years). If the final combined
score is under 46, the average market return is just 8.2%.
When in rome
Roman numerals began to be used with Super Bowl V held in 1971. This year's
game is designated LVI and when the game is designated with an even number the
average market return in the subsequent years is 8.2% versus 16.2% for games
designated with an odd number.
What are the odds
When the favored team wins the market responses with an average return of 13.7%
versus 9.9% when the underdog pulls off the upset. No matter who wins the
market is happiest when the game goes "over" as the market responds
with an average return of 15.9%.
Go west young man
Not so good advice when it comes to the Super Bowl. When games are played west
of the Mississippi River the average market return in the subsequent years is
9.0% versus a more robust 14.3% when games played east of the Mississippi
River.
No place like home
When the designated home team wins the average market return in the subsequent
years is 16.9% versus only 8.9% when the road team wins.
The golden state
It may well be golden for investors as the average returns in subsequent years
after games have been played in California is 15.8% trailing only Florida of
any of the 10 states that the game has been played in.
Dome might cast shadow on outlook
Super Bowls that were played under a dome or with the retractable roof
closed and the average market return was 7.3% while 36 Super Bowl games have
been played at an open-air stadium or with the retractable roof open and the
average S&P 500 return for those years is 14.9%.
Returning champs are a win for S&P 500
When a former champion returns and wins the Super Bowl, the average market

Why does the NFL use Roman numerals?
AFL and Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt proposed using Roman numerals for each Super Bowl to add pomp and gravitas to the game. Roman numerals were, unsurprisingly, used in ancient Rome as a number system. I stands for 1, V for 5, X for 10, L for 50 and C for 100. That’s right: In 2066, get ready for Super Bowl C.
Super Bowl V was the first to use Roman numerals. They were retroactively added to the Super Bowl II to IV logos and have been used each year since until 2016. For Super Bowl L, or 50, the NFL tried out 73 different logos before breaking down and using a plain old “50.”
The Roman numerals for this year’s big game, Super Bowl 57, are LVII.
Which NFL team has the most Super Bowl wins in NFL history?
The Patriots and Steelers are not only familiar with playing on the big stage, but they also know what it takes to come out on top. New England and Pittsburgh are tied for the most Super Bowl victories in the NFL with six each. The San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys have won five Lombardi Trophies each and the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants are tied with four Super Bowl championships.
- New England Patriots: 6
- Pittsburgh Steelers: 6
- San Francisco 49ers: 5
- Dallas Cowboys: 5
- Green Bay Packers: 4
- New York Giants: 4
