August of every year begins the focusof "back to school," than as college football gets started a important focus of the "farming community"gets a boost with the help of farm benefits in the Luke Bryan Farm Tour and Farm Aid.

Luke Bryan is ready to conquer farming communites on his 14th annual FARM TOURbeginning September 14th through September 23rd. The 2023 edition will take him to Kentucky, Ohio, Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Besides the energy boost and salute to the hard working communities he visits, Farm Tour has a legacy of support since 2009:

  • #HerestotheFarmer campaign helps provide access to critical health and nutrition. For every share using the hashtag #HerestotheFarmer on their social media platforms from now through November 30, 2023, Bayer will donate 1 million meals to people in need through Feeding America®. 6 million meals have been donated and more than $180,000 has gone to Feeding America member food banks and local farmers at each of the tour cities.
  • Bryan has given out 78 scholarships, since the Farm Tour began, helping grant college scholarships to students from farming families to their local college or university near the tour stops.
  • Bayer, last year, provided one million meals to Feeding America®, Farmland® donated a truckload of protein to local foodbanks in each of the states that hosted the tour and also donated $9,000 to each state’s FFA Association, and Fendt donated $25,000 to the national FFA organization.

Conversations started recently concerning the Farm Aid acts and having that tradition continue as it's aging lineup preps for the 2023 version on September 23rd on the outskirts of Indianapolis, Indiana. That benefit was started in 1985 and features Willie Nelson, who is now 90, Neil Young, age 77, and John Mellencamp is 71.  Farm Aid was born with the Live Aid Concert when Bob Dylan said on stage, “Wouldn’t it be great if we did something for our own farmers right here in America?” Dylan is now 82 and no longer part of the performing line which asks the question: "Do you think Farm Aid will expand to a younger generation of top performers?"

I asked Luke Bryan, about playing Farm Aid to continue that legacy, ahead of his show at the same venue where Farm Aid 2023 is being held, his answer, "They've never asked me,"  but he goes on to say that he sees no end to his Farm Tour as long as it does good for the farming communities that he visits. Luke is proud his Farm Tour legacy is culturing a more local community effect versus the national focus of the Farm Aid benefit.
