Jason Aldean has officially given his first public statement on the controversy of 'Try That In A Small Town'on Friday night (July 21) during his first live show since the controversy broke earlier in the week. His Thursday night show, outside of Cleveland, was called due to weather, so he had a few extra hours to think about his statement before going into the song about 45 minutes into his set.
Jason is not a 'talker' on stage. He normally just says a few words and then plays the hits so the just over 3 minutes address to the Cincinnati Riverbend crowd was a passion filled statement and correction of character concerning what had been said about him and the video of the song.
In the video below that I caught, he talks about his character being tarnished, having the same values as a large majority of small town grown people and being a proud American that will protect his family, friends and freedom.
He then launches into 'Try That That In A Small Town'with a majority singing along and an American flag waving high.
Before the show Jason told me that he didn't have any idea what he was going to say that it would be a 'feel of the moment' comment.
He did say that he has gotten a lot of support from everyone including former President Donald Trump.
Loved the'Riverfront Stadium'shirt in the honor of Cincinnati, while he is a avid Atlanta Braves fans, but did express that the Reds and a team to watch during the conversation.
