Graduation season is upon us with sights and sounds of the 'Class of 2023' celebrating their accomplishments.
For Conner Smith his graduation celebration took place in 2019 when he accepted his high school diploma. Besides college, he opted to go into his passion of music getting a publishing deal at age 16 having written several songs that got noticed. In 2021 he made his splash onto the country music scene and has been moving forward since.
Smith recently wrapped his first-ever headline IF I WENT
TO COLLEGE TOUR having been out with Thomas Rhett in 2022.
He has learned lessons, country music learning, from some of the biggest performers but it's still bitter sweet as he performed this year at colleges across the USA during what would have been his senior year.
"I'm 22, I never went to college but all my
friends are graduating right now and and so the headline tour was really symbolic of where I've gotten since graduating high school."
While he doesn't have a college diploma he does have real world 'work' experience having travel to many parts of the USA while learning how to be the best he can be in country music. He explains that he hopes the advice he has received will be something that the graduates of today can also take away as they navigate their next future plans.
"I've
gotten so much good advice and that's been one of the real blessings
that I've had in my career is just having people, I respect and look up
to, just pour wisdom into me and no one bigger than that than Thomas
Rhett he's just been like a big brother to me," Connor reveals. "Just been so
intentional in the way he's been able to just pour into me throughout my career."
"I remember very
early on, as
I was just gettin' my feet under me on the road, he said
something so simple and I just I think about it all the time." Conner continued.
"He said, "man
at the end of the day this industry is as crazy as you want it to be," and
just what he meant by that is...as an artist, the world
gets put at your fingertips and you get to decide what you want and who you want to be and I think recognizing that
you, just recognize that your decisions is your decisions and putting the
right people around you, making the right decisions every night, being
someone you're proud of and someone that you would look up to as a younger kid really matters to me and I think he taught me that
more than anyone so that's something I remember a lot and it gives me a
lot of peace."

summer, Conner joins Luke Bryan’s COUNTRY ON TOUR. See his current summer fun single 'Creek Will Rise' below:
